Swaeta Singha-Roy
Program Manager, Sapien Labs Centre for Human Brain and Mind at Krea University
Swaeta Singha Roy is Program Manager of the Sapien Labs Centre for Human Brain and Mind in India. While she enjoys preparing budgets, helping establish collaborations, and supervising data collection activities, working in a new and unique centre each day brings both opportunities and challenges- that excite her the most.
Swaeta has previously worked with students in higher education institutions, where she witnessed first-hand that a large number of students grapple with mental health challenges. In leading the field operations in India, Swaeta travels to both urban and rural India, where she finds that the problem of mental health is ubiquitous—almost no young adult or child is immune.
Prior to joining Sapien Labs, Swaeta worked at Sai University, where she helped run Admissions and Outreach and was also at IFMR LEAD in the HR division. Swaeta has degrees in English from Calcutta University and an MBA in Human Resources from the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad.
“Almost everyone I have talked to considers the work we do at Sapien Labs as both cutting-edge and massively important. When working in higher education institutions that had counsellors to address mental health challenges, I realised that there was barely a dent in the issue. Now, after working at Sapien Labs, I begin to understand why that was the case: the fundamental problems are structural, and unless those are addressed, mental health issues will continue to grow. At Sapien Labs, I am truly blessed to be working with perhaps the best colleagues one can possibly have- all committed to solving one of the defining problems of our age.”
